James Patterson's "Witch & Wizard" - Banned Materials

I read James Patterson's Witch & Wizard and at the back of the book Patterson includes an appendix titled - Excerpts of NEW ORDER PROPAGANDA as Disseminated by The Council of N.O. "Arts" section.

I felt the need to decipher the "Banned Materials" (with Google's help) in honor of Banned Books Week and how censorship is ridiculous.

Here are my answers (guesses):
Especially Offensive Books That Have Been Banned: As Dictated by The One Who Bans Books
The Blueprints of Bruno Genet - The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick
Margaret's Pen - Charlotte's Web by E. B. White
The Pitcher in the Wheat - The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
The Thunder Stealer - The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Ratter's Trip Down - Watership Down by Richard Adams
Gary Blotter and the Guild of Rejects - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The Firegirl Saga - The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer
The Eldest Dragon - the Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr books by Christopher Paolini

edit to add: Maybe The Firegirl Saga is the The Firekeeper Saga; I haven't read this series but it is closer to the source.

  1. This is perfect, those were all the ones I thought of, except I thought Stonesmack was Godsmack, and I thought Wizards With Attitude was Women With Attitude. I thought the Fate Gallery was the Tate Gallery in NYC. One weird things is that there is actually a semi - popular series called the Firegirl series, so I thought maybe readers would be confused.

  2. I thought Stonesmack was Godsmack too, but the Debut album wasn't right, so I did googled "Stonesmack" and ended up here... The only other ones I couldn't get were Radiohead (probably would have gotten it eventually or my hubby would have gotten it had I been patient enough to wait until the morning to ask - but I'm not)my guess for the FireGirl was the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - (even though I haven't read that the series and have read the Twilight series multiple times) I just didn't get the Firegirl connection... But after seeing your guess and reading Patterson's description of "This bizarre thread of folklore, which promotes secretive "love" between humans and nonhumans, once bread massive, manic cults of creatur-worshipping females." So yeah, I can see the whole "Edward" vs. "Jacob" thing being played right into that. Good call! Thanks for the help - it was driving me nuts! :O)

    1. The Firekeeper Saga is two trilogies centering around a young woman, Firekeeper, and her faithful brother/mate Blind Seer, a fantastical wolf who possesses intelligence and can communicate with Firekeeper, though if this is because of a Firekeeper's talent or upbringing is left to question.
