Theme Thursdays: Any Action - July 28

Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event that will be open from one thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:

•A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
•Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
•Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
•It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”
This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.

This week’s theme is – ANY ACTION (go, walk, close, clap, etc.)

My current read: A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire #5) by George R.R. Martin

There were seven of the mushrooms. Perhaps the Seven were trying to tell him something. He picked them all, snatched a glove down from the line, wrapped them carefully, and stuffed them down his pocket.

My current read: Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier

The man was standing in the entrance of number 18, opposite. As usual, he wore a black trench coat and a hat pulled right down over his face. I'd taken him for a ghost until I realized that Nick, Catherine, and Lesley could see him too.

She's tough, so tough: I find her alive and well in the kitchen, curls arranged sloppily, cheeks freckled, shoulders pink, wearing a tank top and cutoffs and red flip-flops, hunched bored in front of a frying pan.

My current read: Angelfire (Angelfire #1) by Courtney Allison Moulton

I strained my eyes to peer into the darkness. The streetlamp above me buzzed and went out. Past the sidewalk corner and deep into my neighbor's wide lawn, I could see nothing. For an instant I thought of Mr. Meyer's murderer. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to go walking around outside after midnight?

"I don't like the sky," Piers said, squinting up.
"What's the matter with it? There aren't any clouds." She dropped his arm and turned her back to be unbuttoned.
"That brooding color means a storm. Maybe."
"Maybe? You're a diagnostician of diseases, not weather."

My current read: Overprotected by Jennifer Laurens

His icy gaze chilled me. He backed from the room, closing the door. I blew out a shaky breath. The sweat on my skin started to cool. Two storms raged within me, fear and desperation combining, both angry for release.

My current read: The Iron Witch (The Iron Witch #1) by Karen Mahoney

Navin caught her eye from across the room again and smiled, white teeth flashing against his burnt cinnamon skin. His black hair was neat today, smoothed straight back and falling to the collar of his ever-present, black and red, fake leather biker's jacket (apparently a mandatory accessory for riding his beaten-up old bicycle through the busy Ironbridge streets like he was on a Motocross track).

A guy, some random guy at school looked at me and thought, What a heifer. What a pig. And then wished, if anyone named Emily had to die, that it had been me. The "fat' one.

My current read: Hidden Away (KGI #3) by Maya Banks

"Now tell me what happened the day you walked into the building where Allen Cross was murdered."

I don't consider the sentence to be a spoiler since the murder is mentioned in the synopsis at Goodreads:
Most people would take an all-expense paid trip to the beach in a heartbeat. Garrett Kelly only accepts to keep tabs on Sarah Daniels, who's in hiding after witnessing a murder committed by her half brother-a personal enemy of KGI. But Garrett hadn't planned on falling for Sarah. When he glimpses her dark past, he feels an urgent desire to keep her safe-even as she disappears, running for her life.

My current read: Stolen: A letter to my captor by Lucy Christopher

Those cupboards contained pretty much the same sort of stuff any other kitchen would: bowls, plates, cooking utensils. Nothing of use to me unless I hit you over the head with a frying pan. It was tempting.

The hotel room was nothing like the plush accommodations of Marco's penthouse in Naples, but there was a clean bed, a chair and a water basin. It was all they would need.

Reaching out, David stopped just shy of touching the clock's surface, when he pulled his hand away and continued studying the surface of the clock. Then he stepped to one side and his frown deepened. "That's weird," he muttered.

My current read: Over the Moon by Diane Daniels

Toatsen, the son, told his crazy, angry father, 'If you make us into stars so we can never come down, we will use our power to make you into a wild coyote. You can never join us in the sky. You will always be lonely and sad, as you are doomed to run in the desert all night, and you will look up at us and howl.' Despite his rage, Tureris loved his family and mourned for them. When you hear the piercing howl of the coyote, remember that is the soul of Tureris crying for his lost family.
